Control Assurance and Validation Consultant – Operational Risk Consultant 4

Finance Control Executive team is seeking a Control Assurance and Validation Consultant for the implementation of assurance activities to ensure the effectiveness of controls. Within a team environment and reporting to the Control Assurance and Validation Manager within the Finance Control Executive team, he/she will be responsible for providing independent assurance on the design and operating effectiveness of business controls as well as the development and maintenance of strong relationships across Independent Risk, applicable lines of business, and Wells Fargo Audit Services (WFAS). Specifically, the Control Assurance and Validation Consultant will:

  • Support the implementation of Self Assurance Activities Policy in Finance
  • Participate in the execution and monitoring of control assurance and validation activities
  • Perform control testing and assurance
  • Ensure comprehensive coverage, consistency in execution, and maintenance of a schedule of assurance activities, including supervision and input in review scoping, monitoring progress of reviews and reporting on the results
  • Support the development of Enterprise tool to comply with the Self Assurance Activity policy
  • Support continued enhancement of procedures and tools
  • Support management and coordination of assurance activities related to business controls
  • Support development of monitoring and automation capabilities and identification of opportunities for increased efficiencies
  • Review and maintain the Finance risk based approach to implement the Self Assurance Activities policy and adapt it to the changing business environment
  • Support management and coordination of assurance activities related to business controls
  • Partner with other team members within the team and business to understand issues, corrective actions, root cause and validate the actions taken for remediation
  • Perform the validation of corrective actions of SHRP issues where applicable
  • Adaptable to a dynamic and quickly changing, fast placed work environment where priorities or focus may need to shift frequently,
  • Ability to focus on the details of an issue or task while keeping the big picture in mind

Required Qualifications

6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in Auditing, Compliance, Risk and Testing and/or a quality assurance function in regulatory compliance or operational risk management in the financial services industry.
  • Proven ability to discern risk and influence risk management practices, formulate and implement effective strategies, and centrally manage risks in collaboration with lines of business/groups and support functions
  • Current or previous experience in Wells Fargo’s or another financial services organization’s first, second, or third lines of defense functions performing quality assurance, testing and validation, or remediation activities
Job Expectations

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
