Overview/Purpose:
The Archdiocese of New York’s Department of Education is searching for an energetic, proactive, and relational communications professional with extensive experience in Catholic education and digital media.
The Director of Communications and Digital Media for the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of New York will work with department staff to create a robust and updated communications strategy to highlight the good work of Catholic schools throughout the Archdiocese. The Director will be responsible for maintaining and expanding the department’s digital assets to ensure brand integrity. They will also be responsible for writing press releases, engaging the media, and building relationships with local school staff throughout the Archdiocese.
An ideal candidate is one familiar with the vital importance of Catholic education to the life of faith in the Catholic community of New York. The position will report to the Superintendent of Schools and is full-time and in-person.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinating all external and internal communications for the Department of Education, Office of the Superintendent of Schools, and Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of New York.
- Preparing the Superintendent and other high-level officials before in-person or digital events with relevant and timely information about schools, event details, and other requested information.
- Working collaboratively with the marketing team to reach potential families, generate and convert leads, and pursue innovation in promotion of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New York.
- Using relevant data, statistics, and analytics to develop a strategic communications approach.
- Maintain and update the Catholic Schools website, email newsletter, and social media to the standards of relevant best practices across each platform; Integrate a robust social media presence into the overall digital communications strategy.
- Build, maintain, and manage digital brand assets such as logos, letterhead, and email signatures.
- Create and distribute press releases.
- Build relationships and engage with local media outlets throughout the Archdiocese.
- Plan, build, and distribute the Annual Report in collaboration with office staff.
- Advise the Superintendent of Schools about communications matters when necessary.
- Coordinate communications efforts for the Office during times of crisis or challenge.
- Develop and execute communications campaigns to increase enrollment, generate positive press, build awareness, or highlight school accomplishments.
- Travel the Archdiocese to visit schools and build relationships with relevant staff.
- Build relationship and maintain close contact with the Communication Director of the Archdiocese of New York.
- Provide media training to principals and SOS staff.
- Oversee proactive daily management of social media accounts.
- Oversee creation and growth of Spanish language social media channels.
- Oversee SOS work with independent HS in support of their communications, efforts, specifically raising awareness of TACHS exams.
- Establish and maintain ‘support network” of colleagues and counterparts in arch/dioceses across the nation.
- Oversee all CFN video productions related to our schools from conception to completion.
- Curate existing Catholic/education content for ITV programming .
- Conceptualize, create, write and executive produce one hour prime time national television program, Annual ArchMedia Awards Show.
- Conceptualize, create, write, and executive produce subsequent programs featuring the superintendent of schools and other senior staff.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, digital media, or related field. (Master’s preferred, but not required).
- At least 5-7 years of relevant communications experience.
- Familiarity with Catholic education.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
- Ability to execute short-term projects in a timely manner, while keeping longer-term projects moving in a positive direction.
- Respect for the necessary confidentiality and transparency required to work with students, parents, teachers, and high-level Archdiocesan officials.
- Ability to work independently.
- Willingness to be trained in relevant communications fields when appropriate.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
