Deloitte Catalyst Domain Manager

Location: Austin or Silicon Valley

Work You Will Do:
As part of the Deloitte Catalyst team, the Domain Manager will scan, scout, prioritize, and cultivate relationships with key players in the Austin startup ecosystem (incl. startups, venture capital firms, private equity firms, accelerators, incubators, etc.) and match innovative startup technologies to Deloitte client use cases. The Domain Manager will work closely with leadership to help further define and refine the vision of the overall program, finalize scope and develop the plan for the next fiscal year, and manage and execute the overall program. This activity will be executed through the lens of a specific domain (e.g. FSI/FinTech, Industry 4.0, Retail, SalesTech/MarTech). Specific responsibilities include:

Working closely with domain leadership to align priorities and target use cases of strategic importance to the practice
  • racking the domain startup and investment landscape, prioritize key players, and curate viable ecosystem partners
Developing eminence and domain-specific trends briefs and perspectives on market activity that can be shared with leadership and clients
Supporting relationship building efforts with key players
Sourcing and shaping use cases from domain network and client account teams
Connecting OPs and Industries with innovative ecosystems to provide consistent and efficient access to disruptive technologies, methods and frameworks
Collaborating with other Innovation and Sensing services and threads across the US and Global firms
Facilitating the sharing of ideas across the global network via existing and emerging technologies and communities and enabling cross-practice communications of existing assets and solutions
Providing input into innovation priorities for investments, labs and other co-development

This is a 12-18-month rotational Enabling Model role within the US Consulting National Office, with potential for full-time transfer. Relocation to Austin, if needed, is at the cost of the practitioner.

The Team:
Co-sponsored by Consulting Innovation and the Office of the CTO, Deloitte Catalyst focuses on sensing, prioritizing, building, and activating relationships with key players in the emerging technology ecosystem.

5+ years consulting experience
Passion for innovation and emerging technology trends along with a firm foundation in the core principles of technology
Working knowledge/experience of one of the prioritized domains (e.g. FSI/FinTech, Industry 4.0, Retail, SalesTech/MarTech); ideally has a strong internal Deloitte network within that domain
Excellent executive communication skills (both verbal and written) including experience developing and delivering executive level presentations, in order to support briefings to PMD network
Ability to develop effective working relationships (internal and external)
Working with domain leadership, excels at networking and supporting the creation of new opportunities and new business relationships
Ability to synthesize large sets of data and integrate into meaningful reports and recommendations
Outstanding analytical, research, and presentation skills
Strong project management and organizational skills including ability to scope, plan and manage to achieve overall objectives
Proven ability to perform in a multi-disciplinary team
Flexibility/adaptability – comfortable working with ambiguity and continually evolving priorities – this is a newly forming capability – an agile mindset is key
Ability to work well under pressure and in utmost confidentiality with sensitive information
Focus on details and producing high quality work products
Experience with sensing tools and methods (e.g., CB Insights, Quid, Feedly) is a plus
Experience with VC/PE/Startup domain is a plus
Demonstrates strong value for diversity and ability to team and collaborate effectively
