The primary responsibilities of the Data Engineer are to develop and/or sustain applications for the Data Technology team, to provide technical guidance on complex applications, programming and integration projects, and to contribute to our ongoing migration to an AWS-based Data Lake.
Create and maintain an enterprise data ecosystem including ingestion, storage, organization, and interface.
Work closely with and provide design specifications to Database Administration, Data Architects, and BI development staff to optimize overall design.
Analyze the business and technical requirements for data systems and applications; Scope, estimate, and schedule project work; Coordinate the integration of IT policies, procedures and development practices.
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
Research emerging data technology, applications, and integration frameworks to continuously improve the data lake/warehouse platform and practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field of study, or equivalent relevant work experience.
1-3 years of hands-on engineering experience implementing data pipelines via methods such as ETL, ELT, EL/TL, DaaS, Data Lake, or ODS.
1-3 years of experience using SDLC and Agile.
1-3 years of experience with AWS services including S3, Lambda, Redshift, EMR, and KMS.
1-3 years of experience with Netezza, Postgres, MySQL, MSSQL, Informatica, TSQL, or GUI based ETL.
1-3 years of experience in programming languages – Java, Scala, Python.
1-3 years of ESB/Messaging/Integration with tools such as MuleSoft or Kafka.
Able to work in a multi-functional team environment including varied business units, vendors, countries and cultures.
1+ years of visualization with Tableau, or QuickSight.
Able to develop business, technical, and application architecture.
Experience in dealing with financial product datasets.
Experience with advanced analytics tools and languages such as R, Python, Java, SAS, and others.
Designing, deploying, and supporting production cloud services in AWS ecosystem including SageMaker, Athena, Glue, CFT, VPC, IAM.
Test automation design and implementation experience.
Architecture – Event Driven Design, APIs, Micro services, stateless/chaos.
DevOps experience with Git, build, artifact/package management, and deploy automation.
Working in a SSAE 16 or similar level of controls environment.
Familiarity with data discovery, analytics, and BI tools such as Tableau.
Experience working in a SSAE 16 or similar level of controls environment.
Experience in data modeling, schema design/development, and dimensional modeling.
Experience working with financial market data vendor platforms such as FactSet, Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters and alternative data sets.
Experience designing, deploying, and supporting production cloud services in AWS ecosystem including EC2, Kinesis, RDS, ELB
Normal office environment.
Overtime as needed.
