The Department of Pathology at the Keck School of Medicine, located in the Health Sciences Campus, is seeking a Medical Secretary join its team.
The Medical Secretary will be working is a extremely busy office and will be responsible for numerous administrative tasks including many patient-facing responsibilities. The incumbent supports physician staff by: accessioning patient samples; requesting patient samples from originating hospital; verifying orders from referring physicians; verifying insurance, drafting patient reports; entering results into patient record; scanning documents; prepare billing documents for third-party payers; maintaining office files and patient records; filing, photocopying, etc.
To perform their duties effectively, the ideal candidate must be extremely detailed oriented, have strong interpersonal skills and a high level of discretion to maintain confidentiality of sensitive medical information is a necessary attribute along with the ability to work with minimal supervision, handle pressure, and meet deadlines.
