Full Job Description
Patent Analysts specialize in conducting patent searches for clients. They utilize their technical background and experiences to understand each invention or patent disclosure; and apply critical thinking and problem solving skills to conduct a focused and comprehensive search for prior art references for the search report.
Search analysts work with constantly new inventions and cutting-edge technologies, with each project providing unique and broad challenges. Search analysts work on various types of projects, including, patentability, invalidity, state of the art, and freedom to operate searches.
Production based variable compensation. Training Provided. Remote work possible.
Conduct high-quality patent search projects
Meet deadlines and manage the assignments on docket
Communicate effectively with other staff and team members
Work and be available during business hours
Required Skills and Abilities:
Advanced degree in Physics or Optical Engineering.
Patent law or patent search experience a plus
Patent search or research experience – i.e., familiarity with search engines a plus
Ability to work independently in a deadline driven environment.
Skills and discipline working in a home office environment
Self-motivated to work effectively and efficiently
Technical understanding of the invention disclosure, and identification of search focus
Problem solving skills in constructing and conducting patent searches using various search engines
Critical thinking skills to analyze found results and completing a search report
Technical areas of interest:
integrated circuit design
Fabrication of semiconductor integrated circuits, preferably with direct integrated circuit fabrication experience
Battery design and technology, photovoltaic/solar technologies, nuclear energy, wind power generation, wave power generation, etc.
Photovoltaic/solar technologies, nuclear energy, wind power generation, wave power generation, etc.
Variety of sensors including chemical, electrical, optical, photosensors, biological, acoustic, infrared, etc.
Lighting fixture design
Color rendering/mixing to light-based medical therapies
Lens design and systems
Visual displays (including a consistent flow of head mounted displays, such as virtual reality glasses)
Cameras, microscopy, medical imaging (CT, MRI. etc.), cytometry
Imaging with some type of energy (light, acoustic, magnetic, X-ray, etc.).
