About the Agency:

This position is located in Wrentham, MA on a 400 acre facility serving a vulnerable population with intellectual and developmental challenges.

Job Responsibilities: (The duties and responsibilities stated are general summary and not all inclusive.)

This position is responsible for providing the transport of individuals with intellectual disabilities to and from their residences and day programs both on the Wrentham Developmental Center campus and in community by utilizing a wheelchair-adapted school bus. In addition to driving the wheelchair-adapted school bus, at times, this position may be required to drive other types of vehicles.

The Motor Truck Driver will ensure the transport of residents and staff to medical appointments, make deliveries, and transport individuals on community trips. Also, this position will maintain records and prepare reports on such matters as vehicle use and mileage, and report to supervisor when repairs are needed. This position may be required to load and unload materials, equipment and supplies, and perform related work as required. Performs vehicle preventative maintenance, repairs, and cleaning, as required. Excellent driving record, communication skills and familiarity with the greater Boston area are required. A CDL License with P endorsement is mandatory for this position.

A criminal background check (CORI) will be completed on the recommended candidate as required by the regulations set forth by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services prior to the candidate being hired. In addition, Chapter 234 of the Acts of 2014, An Act Requiring National Background Checks, requires the Department of Developmental Services to conduct fingerprint-based check of the state and national criminal history databases on the recommended candidate. This position is designated as an “EMERGENCY” Position in the Department of Developmental Service’s Emergency Plan. This means that whenever the Governor declares that the Commonwealth is in a state of emergency, you will be required to report to work.

“This position is in a program that operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The Department of Developmental Services requires employees in this position to be able to perform mandatory overtime when circumstances dictate the need.”

Special Requirements:
I. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class 1 Motor Vehicle Operator's license.

II. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class 2 Motor Vehicle Operator's license.

III. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid hoisting license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety.
