Full Job Description
In this role, the DevOps Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and managing a group of engineers that are responsible for implementing automation solutions that help increase the speed of our ability to deliver features to production at SelectQuote. The DevOps Engineering Manager manages the pipeline by which our application teams and pipeline managers engage with the infrastructure teams. This role is responsible for developing the configurations for foundational components to build our development environments, and provide guidance, oversight and direction for the projects and how we manage our infrastructure within the cloud.
Build and lead highly skilled engineering teams from planning through execution. Create development plans, training agendas aligned to performance goals. Perform hiring, performance evaluations and ongoing development of policies and procedures.
Establish and adhere to development scope and timelines in accordance to overall project and in line with SelectQuote-provided development tools and processes
Ensures that we benchmark against associated services to keep service delivery and support at an appropriate cost.
Provides end to end management and delivery of infrastructure services.
Understands patterns and trends that contribute to utilizing key performance indicators and critical success factors that will improve the performance of the organization.
Design and create scalable, automated solutions to service our customers and internal development team
Communicate effectively and efficiently with business line stakeholder(s) and vendor partners on the technical solution development activities and deliverables
Consult with business line stakeholder(s) and vendor partners in an analysis role
Lead by example through demonstration of high performance in the areas of customer service, collaboration, team work, reliability, productivity, and execution
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
5-7+ years of DevOps / Sysadmin Management (or related experience with an increasing set of responsibilities)
Proven ability in people management, strategic planning, risk management, change management, cost optimization, and project management
History of growing and mentoring team members with a wide range of experience levels
Self-motivated individual with excellent time management and organizational skills
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, relationship building skills, and the ability to achieve results across reporting chains
High level of ownership and accountability for high-quality work, both personally and at a team level
Resource allocation and management of multiple concurrent projects, some of which with competing priorities.
Minimum 3-5 years experience with AWS
At least 1-2 years of demonstrated programming capability in a high-level programming language such as Ruby, Python, Java, C# or other languages
Experience establishing and employing Continuous Integration practices and tools such as Jenkins or other CI tools
Frequent and comfortable use of configuration management automation tools such as Ansible (or other such tools) in creating continuous delivery systems
Training & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
AWS Certified Associate (Solutions Architect, Sys Ops, Developer)
2-3 years successful engagements providing continuous delivery solutions, preferably employing AWS
