POSITION: Registered Nurse –Tribal Health
SALARY: $27.06 - $39.41 per hour, DOE
REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing
LOCATION: Convalescent Center; Nespelem, Washington
Basic Functions: This is a non-exempt position. Incumbent provides direct nursing care to the CTCC residents. The RN will supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the NACs. Such supervision must be in accordance with all current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing this facility. The RN must provide the highest degree of care to each and every resident according to their care plan to enable them to obtain their highest level of health, happiness and independence.
Education and Training:
BA in the field of Nursing; AND
Twenty-four (24) months of experience providing direct human services to clients, preferable in a community setting.
Must possess a current license as a RN in the state of Washington.
Must maintain certification and be able to perform CPR.
Demonstrate ability to maintain STRICT CONFIDENTIALITY.
Must possess and maintain a valid State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes vehicle insurance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of long-term care setting nursing practices.
Knowledge of resident abuse and neglect.
Knowledge of resident rights.
Knowledge of nursing, medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to
Ability to read, write, and understand the English language.
Ability to relate clearly and concisely information concerning resident’s condition to the appropriate parties.
Ability to make independent nursing decisions.
Knowledge of comprehensive health program and the full range of professional community health nursing principles, practices and procedures in providing service in clinic, home, and community environments.
Knowledge of administration and management concepts in order to develop, plan, conduct, and assist in evaluating of a community health nursing program.

Knowledge and skills in mankind physical and psychosocial assessments of communities, families and individuals, recognizing the range of “normal” and the manifestations of common abnormalities. Assist as requested by CHR’s in the development of these skills.
Knowledge of the norms and customs of the ethnic group within the area with ability to generate an appreciation of cultural differences. Assist the Tribal CHR’s in the development of these skills.
Knowledge and ability to provide counseling in preventive care to health individuals by guidance in nutrition, common illnesses, child growth, and development patterns and mental health.
Knowledge of availability and use of local, State, and Federal resources. Development of a resource manual of providers for the use of medical and Contract Health Service Staff as well as for the purpose of referrals.
Ability to push, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 3 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or
carry such weight a minimum distant of 25 feet.
Ability to successfully clear a Criminal History Background inquiry that indicates no felony, convictions or negative actions as defined by DSHS related to the care of vulnerable adults.
Special Requirements: TB Testing required as a condition of employment. Employees who work with vulnerable populations are required to have a Turberculin skin test or have a chest x-ray with a negative result.
Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.
TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.
If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
