OptoTech Technologies is a fast-growing ophthalmic manufacturer and service provider that has an opportunity for a Sr. Accountant/Assistant Controller to join our team!
The Sr. Accountant/Assistant Controller will manage the overall bookkeeping functions; including, account receivables, account payables, cost accounting, general ledger and month end close.
With your knack for seeing patterns, discrepancies, attention to detail, and knowledge of GAAP principles, you will work closely with the Controller to create best practices.

Summary:
The Sr. Accountant / Assistant Controller is responsible for maintaining accounting records for the company.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
· Records numerical and financial data to produce financial records.
· Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
· Ensures financial data is entered correctly and accurately.
· Enters journal entries to debit and credit the company’s account.
· Accurately codes and enters invoices in a timely fashion and reconciles accounts.
· Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
· Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
· Reconciles and reports differences or issues found in financial records.
· Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
· Allocates expenditures to correct accounts according to departmental procedures.
· Files required sales tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies for both US and Canadian agencies.
· Performs month-end and year-end closing process.
· Performs other related duties as requested by the Controller / HR Manager.

Required Skills/Abilities:
· Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting, with strong understanding of 3-way matching principle and Cost of Goods functionality.
· Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
· Highly proficient with accounting software (QuickBooks for Desktop).
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
· Excellent analytical and organization skills, with close attention to detail and proactive problem-solving ability.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree, or higher, with accounting coursework preferred.
· At least three years of increasingly responsible experience in accounting required, preferably in the manufacturing industry.

- Frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring prolonged sitting, close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Hearing acuity and ability to communicate with others effectively.
- Manual dexterity and hand eye coordination for typing, filing and utilization of office equipment.
- Mobility to move around the office environment as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds at a time.
