A Research Scientist position in metabolomics and lipidomics is available immediately at The Wistar Institute in The Proteomics and Metabolomics Shared Resources Facility. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for providing high level targeted and untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics analyses to cancer biology researchers. Assays will include targeted and untargeted metabolomics, flux analysis, and lipid profiling using LC-MS/MS on a Q-Exactive HF-X mass spectrometer. The successful candidate will be involved in consulting with biologists, participation in experimental design, sample preparation, LC-MS/MS analysis, data analysis and interpretation, and instrument management. Related responsibilities will include optimization of assays, development of new analytical assays, and monitoring pertinent scientific literature. The candidate will be expected to work effectively and be self-motivated.
A Ph.D. with substantial experience with LC-MS based metabolomics and lipidomics analyses as well as strong communication and analytical skills are required. Experience with LipidSearch, Compound Discoverer, TraceFinder, and operation of Q-Exactive mass spectrometers or their equivalent are strongly preferred. Knowledge of cancer biology is preferred. While preference will be given to scientists with the expertise summarized above, we are willing to train exceptionally motivated individuals with strong analytical and communication skills.
