The Grosso lab within the Rutgers - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Institute for Neurological Therapeutics is inviting applicants for a part-time temporary research assistant (TRA) position to participate in a project studying the neurobiology of neurodegenerative diseases.
The mission of the Institute is to conduct innovative and interdisciplinary translational research projects that lead to the elucidation of the molecular pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases and the development of novel therapeutics. The goal of the Grosso lab is to investigate the role of autophagy in normal cognition and how disruptions in this pathway contribute to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease. A major focus of the laboratory is understanding the connection between synaptic dysfunction and cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s disease using genetically modified animal models. The lab is housed in a state-of-the art research building located in the Piscataway, New Jersey campus of Rutgers University.
The TRA will be responsible for managing the lab’s colony of genetically modified animals, including mouse husbandry and genotyping, as well as maintaining laboratory equipment and stock solutions. A high school degree is required at the start of the appointment. All necessary training will be provided, but applicants must be willing to work with research animals, specifically, mice. The position will be 10-20 hours/week, with salary commensurate with experience. The appointment will be until June, 2025, with the opportunity for reappointment contingent on performance and available funding. Priority will be given to applicants with a strong record of scholarly achievement.
