Full Job Description
Plans and directs the overall operation of a major department (with institutional oversight) and provides leadership for staff members. Meets ORP elegibility requirements. Under executive direction, performs highly varied administrative duties involving the use of independent judgment and professional skills. Responsible for all employees assigned to area.
Provides direction, management and training to professional full-time staff of up to 14, and graduate assistants of up to 4.
Works collaboratively with administrators of the student information system, information technology, enrollment management systems, registrar’s office as well as senior academic leaders, to enhance institutional data quality and capture of elements required for regulatory reporting, managerial decision support and policy development.
As the functional owner of the data warehouse, determines content, access, and policies of use of this essential decision-making resource, with the goal of enabling data availability to colleges and executive officers, as well as Institutional Research report generation.
Guides the preparation and distribution of institutional statistics for both internal and external uses, by extraction, manipulation, and conversion of data to informational format specific to target audiences. Manages projects and conducts research in support of academic, human resource, financial aid, enrollment or other areas of interest to institutional administrators. Oversees environmental assessment through generation of peer comparisons, bench marking studies, and analysis of national reports and trends, to assess relevance to the competitive position of the institution.
Oversees production of measures of faculty instructional and research productivity.
Ensures that all regulatory data reporting requirements to state and federal agencies are met for the Main Campus and the regional divisions. Ensures accurate representation of the institution to potential students and their parents by participation in a variety of college guides. Reports measures of student success through retention, persistence, and graduation rates.
Serves as a member of key institutional committees, task forces, and councils.
Provides institutional information and analytic support to the University’s administrative decision makers in order to facilitate strategic planning, policymaking, enrollment management, and other processes requiring sound strategic analysis. Oversees the production of routine reports for strategic enrollment management. Ensuring active monitoring of the admissions/enrollment cycle through regular incoming student enrollment projections by student quality level, market, and intended major. Oversees the production of information regarding non-enrolling applicant and non-returning student behavior. Oversees the production of information related to student retention, persistence, and graduation rates used to develop and assess student support programs.
Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred. Seven years progressively responsible management experience required. Education beyond bachelor's level may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
5-8 years management experience in an Institutional Research department in an academic organization.
Previous experiences with Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board data and reporting.
Knowledge of statistical methodologies and research design practices.
Terminal degree in a relevant area of study.
Working knowledge of dashboard tools and methodology.
