The Commercial Lines Account Representative will be responsible for inbound sales leads in business insurance as well as the support of the commercial department in servicing, renewals and account rounding of existing clients as needed. We are searching for an enthusiastic, team player who has experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple insurance companies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Fields inbound sales calls for business insurance

* Collects information to properly evaluate and rate an account

* Initiates renewal process of existing clients, and discusses and creates renewal strategy team

* Analyzes and compares current exposures and develops renewal or new business specifications for marketing

* Conducts marketing, negotiates rates, reviews quotes and coverages for competitiveness and accuracy

* Reviews and summarizes marketing results and prepares proposals

* Finalizes proposals and presentations in coordination with Team

* Binds insurance coverage and prepares binders and/or certificates of issuance/insurance

* Reviews policies for accuracy and reviews contracts

* Prepares summaries and/or schedules of coverage for clients

* Help cross sell current commercial book of business to round out accounts

* Meets with clients as needed

* Engages in appropriate usage of applicable agency management systems

* Other duties as assigned


* 3 + years’ experience working with an independent brokerage or agency with multiple A rated carriers

* Active/Valid P&C license with no derogatory reports

* College Degree Preferred, not required

* Able to discuss coverage questions with client and understand policy language

* Ability to work with clients, answer their questions pertaining to their policies and coverage, solve any current outstanding issues, and recommend applicable coverage as needed.

* Experience working in a team environment

* Must continue to meet Continuing Education requirements for license renewal


* Excellent oral and written communication skills

* Ability to work with a team and to foster teamwork

* Excellent customer service skills, including telephone and listening skills

* Good problem solving and time management skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

* Become proficient in Agency Management System

* Ability to accept change in workflow and processes as needs of agency develop over time.
