Project Management Advisors, Inc. (PMA) is a real estate project and development management company that provides consulting services to businesses in a wide variety of public and private sector industries. PMA is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Project Manager with 10 years of healthcare focused - design and construction industry experience for our Chicago Office. Our Project Managers interface with PMA’s clients and lead the client and project team of architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, vendors, and other professionals through the process of creating accomplished healthcare projects – activities include leading teams during the “advanced planning/master planning efforts, design and construction of new buildings, major additions and renovations at the departmental level within active medical centers.
Experience and Education
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning or Business Management
10+ years of focused healthcare experience, directly related to project management and senior project leadership
Experience in Healthcare PDC - experience in all phases of healthcare Planning, Design, and Construction on both new/stand-alone, additions, and renovations within an active hospital environment
Experience demonstrating prior involvement and leadership with master planning, schematic design, design development and construction documents phases, and construction/transition planning to building activation
Registered Architect, Engineer, Construction Manager, or Facilities Director is preferable, but not required.
Credentialed in the industry - examples of credentials might include: ACHA, LEAN Six Sigma training, ASHE, ACHE, CHC etc .
Industry Involvement and Leadership: Active in organizations in the healthcare design/planning and construction industry including: Center for Health Design, ASHE, ACHE, AMFP, and/or AIA KC as examples.

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of project controls, project management, construction documentation, and sequencing of work
Understand the role of evidence-based design research in the design of healthcare facilities
Conversant in the importance of LEAN credential-based process planning in the design of healthcare facilities
Understand the process for achieving decision making amongst constituents in a healthcare organizational structure
Demonstrate knowledge of regulatory/code agencies and review processes for healthcare facilities, such regulatory knowledge should include involvement with local, state, and federal (CMS - Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) agencies in the licensing and certification of healthcare facilities
Exhibit working knowledge of alternate materials/methods; construction costs, value-engineering techniques, and Building/Occupancy laws and lease requirements
Demonstrate skills in managing multiple concurrent projects successfully, while meeting or exceeding client expectations and timelines
Maintain professionalism in the face of deadlines; exhibit exceptional listening, negotiation, and problem-solving skills; and handle confidential information with discretion and trustworthiness
Possess excellent time management, communication, organization, and personal effectiveness skills, as well as technical computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Project) and web-based project management tools. Proficiency in BIM and AutoCAD is desired, but not required
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and complete project specific tasks as required to meet or exceed the expectations of the client and fulfill our contractual obligations
Review qualitative program aspects with owner and design team and verify program conformance with project goals
Serve as liaison between client and the design and construction professionals
Initiate and manage the procurement of design, construction, and consultant services
Draft, review, communicate, negotiate and enforce contractual documents for design, construction, and consultant professionals
Develop and monitor both the integrated project budget and project schedule including updating and maintaining web-based project controls
Provide analysis of budgets and schedules and their effect on the financial objectives of the project
Manage the design, engineering, and construction teams in planning and analysis of master planning/programming, conceptual design, and preconstruction activities
Oversee the design team in planning, organizing, and facilitating “users’ meetings” at the concept, schematic, and design development phase; these meetings include constituents involved in providing design input on the project or specific department
Oversee and review the development of architectural and engineering construction drawings and bid documents, confirming coordination between technical disciplines is occurring under the direction of the architect
Direct and/or document project meetings and maintain the project repository site
Meet with clients, city officials, architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants to present the project status and anticipate issues
Anticipate potential changes to the project program and design and proactively assess impact on budget or schedule, provide guidance on the review and analysis of changes when presented
Coordinate and review value engineering alternates with owner and recommend cost-effective alternatives for implementation
Determine requirement and facilitate procurement and proceedings of peer reviews
Determine requirement and facilitate timely procurement of specialty consultants
Coordinate and direct internal resources (Assistant Project Managers, etc.), as required to prepare deliverables and achieve deadlines
Oversee the architect in their review of contractor and vendor onsite activities to verify they are in contractual compliance with design specifications, schedules, and workmanship standards
Authorize the issuance of contracts, purchase orders; develop and process scheduled progress draw packages for payment
Observe and regularly report on construction process and construction related issues
Manage the project closeout process to a successful completion, including oversight of building and/or departmental level functional activation
Proactively seek out and represent PMA in networking and business development opportunities; assist senior management in project proposals and subsequent interviews
Collaborate with the marketing and business development teams to create thought leadership on current industry topics and external messaging content on projects
Curious mind: display evidence of motivation to learn and apply “current/state of the art” ideas on projects.
Known within the industry – would bring to PMA a developed network of healthcare providers (clients, consultants, contractors) to engage and expand PMA’s network
