With over 10 million higher education students annually studying in our MyLab, Mastering, and other learning products, we have the data. We have the instructional and assessment content. Our product teams are making new discoveries in how we can use data to derive actionable insights around our Learners, Instructors and Institutions for building adaptive and intelligent learning systems. Today, MyLabs and Mastering learning products are delivering personalized and adaptive learning experiences worldwide, and this success forms a powerful foundation for new research and innovation. We are looking for a uniquely talented individual to derive actionable insights for our Higher Education Global product teams.

We are looking for someone who turns data into insight, action and results. This likely goes without saying but you must love data! The Senior Product Manager of Product Analytics will operate as an analyst in many capacities while developing insight products that help optimize our customer experience by providing actionable insight into our products, content and systems. They will take part in the entire product life-cycle from ideation to launch to optimization. Strong critical thinking skills, a drive to understand the business, and a strong ability and bias toward actionable insights is essential for success in this role. The successful candidate is also expected to elicit and define requirements, partner with business users to think beyond operational metrics to the next question and manage client expectations about capabilities and timing. The role will involve close interaction with the product mgmt, user design groups, data warehouse developers and software development teams. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are critical.

**High Level Responsibilities: **

  • Partner with Product Managers and Content teams to prioritize, scope and perform in-depth analyses to drive and inform strategic decisions, especially related to the product development and growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate with and lead the project team to ensure successful delivery of the project.
  • Developing lasting insights into complex questions through conducting cutting edge, creative analyses using SQL, R and Tableau with a particular focus on product efficacy and success in optimizing learning outcomes.
  • Provide thought leadership across those internal stakeholders being supported in order that they may be able to better leverage the insights.
  • Heavily partner with Product and Engineering teams to produce instrumentation requirements to generate insightful measurements on our new and existing products. Familiarity with Google Analytics is critical!
  • Work across departments and collaborate with business managers, user experience, systems architects, engineering delivery teams, project managers, QA, and operations teams.
  • Identify information and visualization required to tell a compelling and meaningful story with the various data points available; establish baselines and monitor growth or decline in a multitude of consumer metrics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

+ **Requirements: ** 5 years’ related work experience, 3 years in a highly analytical or quantitative function. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, is analytical, detail and results oriented with excellent problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic. He/she is a highly motivated self-starter. This individual is an evangelist for his/her product and has a deep understanding of his/her customers’ needs. Strong understanding of effective report/dashboard design and standards. A passionate practitioner of effective data visualization. Familiarity with Edward Tufte or Stephen Few visualization practices and the Tableau visualization tool. Strong familiarity with data preparation, processing, classification, and forecasting. Ability to handle ad-hoc analytic requests from raw data through presentation quickly, efficiently and accurately. Strong familiarity with the software product lifecycle. Strong familiarity with learning and content analytics a plus! Proficient in data mining and statistical analysis models, structures, theories, principles and produce powerful visuals that present information in a meaningful and insightful way. Strong familiarity and experience with tools such as: Tableau, Google Analytics, SPSS/SAS, R and other statistical and data delivery tools required. Proficient in developing analytic business requirements for instrumentation with Google Analytics. Experience with Google Analytics technical development a plus. Fluency with structured and unstructured data expressed through the ability to extract that data through SQL, HIVE/Hbase, Spark SQL, etc. The ideal candidate for this role will have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. A Master’s degree or higher would be an asset but is not required. Experience interacting with individuals at all levels, strong time management and communication skills a must. Proven leadership ability to influence and inspire people indirectly, lead by example, engage and effectively build multidisciplinary teams and alliances, and facilitate positive change in a large organization.
