Summary
The role of Payroll Specialist I, requires knowledge of payroll. Hands-on experience with timekeeping, accounting, benefits, and other key areas that integrate with payroll is essential. This role interacts daily with the client as well as internal business partners.
Essential Responsibilities

  • Execute timecard review and adjustments for each payroll cycle.
  • Conduct pre and post payroll reconciliation and provide final sign-off to exit
  • Work closely with other business areas (tax, benefits, IT, etc.) to ensure seamless end-to-end execution
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with client contacts and key business partners
  • Manages the daily email tracking system, responds to inquiries and assigns tickets to appropriate team member.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of Year End efforts
  • Ensures the Time and Attendance system is working accurately and escalates any known issues.
  • Uploads and audits all earnings, including hours worked, exception time.
  • Ensures accurate and timely accounting, recordkeeping and management of payroll related data; performs audits and reconciliations of payroll information.
  • Responds to provide information necessary for compliance with SOX, internal audit and corporate financial controls.
  • Supports the implementation of payroll-related initiatives and projects.
  • Prioritize and solve problems with limited supervision.
  • Other projects as assigned
  • Be aware of, and comply with, all corporate policies.
  • Works under various time constraints on a daily basis and at the same time maintains a high level of accuracy.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.

Skills, Knowledge, and Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

A minimum of one (1) year hands-on payroll experience with a large size company

  • Previous experience/proven ability to accurately and timely complete payroll processing responsibilities for 800 to 1,500 employees
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking capabilities while maintaining organization and meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet software. Demonstrates proficiency using a personal computer (PC), company communication tools (e.g. email, internet), and Microsoft products (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • ADP experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Excellent customer service skills
