The Medical Education Manager, International will be responsible for supporting surgeon educational needs in the priority spine markets outside the United States. This will be achieved through partnering with international Medical Education, Marketing and Sales leadership to identify educational needs, programs, and events that are best supported by the division. This manager will also partner with international team members to develop an annual Medical Education strategy, develop agendas, identify qualified faculty, and then execute all aspects of the program in partnership with the local country teams. This manager will also manage the Stryker-FOCOS preceptorship program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Partner with International Medical Education, Marketing and Sales leadership to identify priority international markets that align with divisional goals and annual marketing plan
Build global network of key opinion leaders and manage relationships and engagements that support business needs
High level of customer engagement and discussions with key opinion leaders
Partner with International Medical Education, Marketing and Sales leadership to identify customer educational needs and develop appropriate programs to meet those needs.
Prepare annual calendar of international educational events and US visitation schedule to be supported by division and with surgeon consultants from the United States
Maintain knowledge on key Stryker Spine product lines and pending international product launches. Identify which products align with the educational strategy for each priority market
Partner with Professional Affairs, Legal and Compliance teams to nominate qualified surgeon consultants to meet international educational needs
Manage paperwork for HCP nominations, compensation, and reimbursement for surgeon consultants engaged in international events
Partner with regional Legal and Compliance teams to ensure programs comply with corporate policies and procedures
Develop agendas and manage travel and logistics for surgeon consultants engaged to teach internationally
Establish and maintain relationships with key international ortho and neuro spine surgeons
Establish relationship with FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital in Ghana, Africa including Dr. Oheneba Boachie and select non-clinical staff
Manage all aspects of Stryker-FOCOS preceptorship program including program promotion, application submissions and review, communication with prospective attendees, schedule coordination between FOCOS and prospective attendee, attendee travel arrangements, agendas, and submission of compliance documentation.
Travel internationally up to 50%
Bachelor’s Degree required.
3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
International experience a plus.
Familiarity with and proficiency in working with Key Opinion Leader surgeons
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce.com. Adept at Excel and formatting into reports. Knowledge of On-line publishing and Managed Learning Systems a plus.
Team orientation - Able to build relationships with other international teams from different business disciplines (e.g. medical education, marketing, sales, compliance, etc.)
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, surgeons, customers, and the general public.
Strong listening and verbal communication skills. Languages in addition to English a plus.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to resolve problems, smooth egos and quickly find appropriate solutions to maintain integrity of the educational program.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 35 pounds. The vision requirements include: close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, as well as in BioSkills laboratory handling cadaveric specimen and laboratory instruments.
