John B. Sanfilippo and Son, Inc (JBSS), a parent company to Fisher, Orchard Valley Harvest, Hunter Mix and Squirrel Brands that produces nuts and nut-based snacks is looking for a Sr. Food Scientist to join our Research & Development team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the R&D Product Development Manager, the Sr. Food Scientist will be responsible for new product development from initial concept through first production run, line extensions, product, process and cost improvements. While maintaining technical documentation, communication with internal and external customers, this candidate must be capable for working across multiple projects while adapting quickly to shifting priorities. Collaboration with internal (Marketing, Sales) and external customers on new item, innovation projects, and sample requests – to ensure objectives are being addressed clearly, efficiently, and on-time.
Creatively leverages external suppliers for necessary new raw materials, flavors, and resources.
Works with internal resources (R&D team, Production, Procurement, Accounting etc.) to develop innovative and on-trend formulas that are compatible with JBSS capabilities.
Works closely with plant staff (Scheduling, Operations, Packaging, Quality, etc.) to scale up and commercialize products.
The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science or related field. Focus in Candy Technology is a plus.
Three plus years experience in the food product development.
Proven track record of confectionery development and innovation with a concentration in chocolate panning & rubbing.
Experience with Product Vision software is highly desirable.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required.
Excellent communication and cross-functional teamwork skills are a must.
