Job Summary:
Functions under the Director of Behavioral Health and assists the Director in the delivery of services. Responsibilities include: to providing supervision and direction to the counselors and advanced therapeutic and rehabilitative care to clients when necessary. This work requires a high degree of independent judgment requires analytical thinking and advanced communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- MUST HAVE SOME SUPERVISING EXPERIENCE IN SUBSTANCE ABUSE
- Provides case management direction to counselors and reviews this with the Director of Social Services.
- Oversees treatment services appropriate to personal and cultural identity and language of the client and family.
- Determines client readiness for treatment and change.
- Establishes a nurturing relationship with staff and clients.
- Displaying dignity and respect.
- Applies advanced professional techniques in the analysis and evaluations of clients and their behavior.
- Identifies psycho-social needs of client and family.
- Helps to facilitate the intake process for applicants.
- Works closely with the medical and data departments to coordinate and facilitate the First Day Orientation for new admissions.
- Works with the Director of Social Services in the assignment of clients to counselors.
- Reviews the productivity and documentation of all counselors and provides summary reports to the Director
- Reviews patient records independently and with the individual counselors and the Director of Social Services.
- Provides assistance to counselors in the referral of clients to various programs and agencies in order to meet the clients; needs which are beyond the scope of Tadiso’s program of treatment.
- Conducts department meetings
- Assumes the responsibilities of the Director of Social Services at times when the Director is Absent
- Communicates with a high degree of proficiency both written and orally.
- Provides direction to counselors which:
- o Facilitates counselors’ provision of services to clients.
o Promotes good time management and efficiency with documentation.
- Knowledge of a variety of group methods/strategies appropriate to substance abuse treatment.
- Participation in multi-disciplinary team to enhance treatment outcomes.
- Promotes staff knowledge for the maintenance of health and prevention of HIV/AIDS, TB. STD’s and other infectious diseases
- Maintains confidentiality of client and treatment in accordance with State and Federal Laws and HIPPA.
- Assists the Director of Social Services in the proposals and implementation of program development.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Performs other assigned functions as needed for quality services and care.
- Send and receive confidential paperwork to facilitate transfers.
- Facilitate case conferences.
- Language Skills:
- Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with clients, staff, public and other agencies
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Basic Computer Knowledge
- Good typing skills.

- Work environment of moderation in temperature, noise.
- Sitting at desk for hours.

- Master’s degree with two years post Master’s experience in human services agency preferably drug and alcohol. Master’s degree can be in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing/health administration .
- Must meet Staffing Regulation 704 of Pennsylvania Department of Health Division of Drug and Alcohol Licensure.
