Payroll Specialist/ Accountant - St. Petersburg

CPP preferred, AA accounting degree preferred
5 years + strong payroll processing experience required.
Excel experience required. Highly knowledgeable and proficient in payroll taxes, social security, unemployment, payroll processing and benefit processing functions, payroll compliance, wage & salary law, benefit reconciliation and general human resource functions.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Processes payroll for 750 + employees within the company.
Prepares and transmits data to payroll service by required deadlines.
Audits payroll for errors.
Distributes paychecks (if applicable) and payroll reports to employees and/or practice managers.
Answer employee questions and resolve payroll issues in a timely manner.
Manages record retention based upon established policies and audit requirements.
Assists in balancing and distributing W-2’s.
Works closely with HR Director and Payroll Client to ensure accuracy of payroll processing.
Prepares and audits 401K reconciliation for Company and all participating clients.
Prepares PTO accrual set-up and monitoring.
Prepares compensation profiles as requested by clients.
Prepares monthly benefit reconciliations for all participating clients.
Works to update policies/protocols for payroll/benefit administration.
Excellence in communication with all clients and/or vendors.
Assist in other related payroll compliance related duties as needed or requested.
Works closely with medical practice managers on daily and weekly payroll issues, concerns and changes.
Provides initial and ongoing payroll management education to practice managers.
Keeps current on advances in payroll processing technology, payroll "best practices", payroll compliance, and wage and salary laws.
