About AECI

The mission of AECI is to create a rigorous college prep academic program that provides students with a foundation of the necessary skills, knowledge, and practical experience to pursue a path leading to college and/or a career in the architecture, engineering, or construction industries.

Job Summary

The School Aide understands and promotes the school’s mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The School Aide's function is to serve students by performing non-professional duties required for the efficient operation of the school.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

Student Support

  • Assist in supervising the lunchroom under the direction of the principal and or other certified staff members
  • Assist in supervising the gym/classroom during the lunch hour under the direction of the principal and or other certified staff members
  • Assist with the preparation of bulletin board/project materials
  • Assist in supervising student arrival/dismissal and hallway duty under the direction of the principal and/or other certified staff members

Administrative Support

  • Distribute textbooks/supplies
  • Sort/deposit mail
  • Duplicate, coordinate and distribute notices and curriculum materials as directed by the principal
  • Maintain an inventory of receipt of books and supplies
  • Escort students to and from busses and/or the school nurse
  • Carry boxes entering the school building – Up to 80lbs. Must be physically capable of doing so.

Student Support & School Culture

  • Communicate effectively and maintain positive professional relationships with students, families, colleagues and administrators
  • Foster an attitude of cooperation and positive support with all school staff and parents

Qualifications & Behavioural Competencies

  • High School Diploma Required, Associate Degree preferred
  • Able to successfully use office equipment and perform general office management tasks; ability to use software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Explorer, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills to maintain inventory records
  • Ability to work effectively in a small school setting; a high level of self-motivation and initiative
  • Ability to interact positively and professionally with all members of the school community including supervisors, teachers, co-workers, students, and students’ parents
  • Exemplary record of attendance and punctuality
  • Willingness to learn new skills and participate in professional development activities
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with diverse constituents
  • Develops and maintains positive communications and working relationships with students, parents, and co-workers by being collaborative and maintaining a pleasant work attitude
  • Openness to feedback and willing to take responsibility for student success
  • Working knowledge of the charter school movement and culture preferred
