The Senior Manager, Digital Communications will be part of the Public Affairs team reporting to the Senior Director, Commercial Communications based in Bedminster, NJ. The Senior Manager will serve as the lead in executing the company’s digital presence, be expert in social media communications, both current and emerging platforms, and have experience in managing traditional corporate website content. The position will guide and continue implementation of the company’s social media platform and policies, enforcing the corporate social media guidelines by conducting ongoing reviews of the company and its competitors in social media with periodic benchmarking. This individual will, with guidance from the Senior Communications Directors, counsel relevant internal functions and manage the company’s corporate presence as determined appropriate in social networking sites including: LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc. and other similar community sites. This position will also assess user-generated posts to ensure timely action where required to create and foster a positive online reputation for the company.
The Senior Manager, Digital Communications will additionally have responsibility for maintaining Mallinckrodt’s corporate website [and blog], as well as corporate messaging on the company’s employee-focused intranet, to ensure cohesive, compelling and relevant messaging across all corporate company digital mediums.
This role will also be responsible for:
Staying at the leading edge of industry trends, in order to develop and implement marketing strategies for MNKs corporate social media sites that will gain followers, generate content and creates a positive image for the company.
Partnering with the public affairs team, cross functional business partners, the social media governance and Promotional Review Committee (PRC) teams, agencies, etc. to identify ways to integrate social media into business strategies, science, marketing campaigns (mainly unbranded), Corporate Social Responsibility efforts (CSR), investor relations, human resources and public awareness efforts.
Creating posts and social media profiles, managing regular posts and responding to followers.
Evaluating the success of our social media marketing efforts and tweaking our strategy as needed.
This individual will be responsible for:
Developing and implementing relevant and smart digital communication programs and posts to create company presence, improve company reputation, give visibility to company activities and aid recruiting/retention.
Managing day-to-day activities for MNK’s corporate social media profiles including:
Create and manage MNK content (e.g. written, images, video)
Develop community engagement efforts and engage with followers seeking information
Manage the friends and followers, likes and shared, etc. based on clear list of MNK vetted criteria
Curate relevant and appropriate third-party content that appeals to our audience
Design, manage, execute targeted paid media campaigns
Maintain and develop social media metrics, analytics and reporting with clearly defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and for management and other relevant key internal audiences (report notable user generated content including threats, Adverse Events (AEs)
Manage day-to-day agency support
Maintaining the external corporate website, collaborating with functional content owners and Information Technology colleagues to ensure a fresh, accurate and appropriately comprehensive presence that aligns with the company’s social media content
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL SKILLS: Social media expertise including knowing what type of content works best on what platform, optimizing content accordingly, as well as understanding the different nuances of each platform.
Exceptional copywriter, editor, presenter and proofreader skills - the ability to convey ideas in a clear and precise way
Creative thinker with visual intelligence - knows what images will work, and when.
Can create visually appealing graphics to coordinate with appropriate posts
Can identify or create good social video content and understands how they fit into each major network.
Technically minded - can learn new tools with relatively minimal effort.
SEO knowledge. Serve as a gatekeeper and promoter of SEO content.
Knowledge of/ability to learn website content management system
Knowledge of/ability to learn intranet platform/SharePoint
Online publishing expertise a requirement.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:
Proven success in social media campaigns and digital communication
Holds in-depth knowledge and understanding of running organic and paid content via social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
Possesses extensive online listening experience, including popular platforms (e.g. Hootsuite, CRISP, Sprinklr)
Comfortable with the concepts of content and word of mouth marketing
Proven ability to handle many projects and maintain composure in high-pressure situations with short turnaround times

Plays key role in Corporate Social Responsibility/community, patient advocacy initiatives, IR and HR activities, by providing digital support, as needed.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field required. If no degree, then equivalent years of experience will be considered.
Experience: A minimum of 6 years’ experience required overseeing social media efforts.
Ability to travel (~25%). Domestic is expected, international travel is possible.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends.
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Commercial Communications, this position will collaborate closely with key stakeholders across Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, particularly within the Public Affairs, Commercial, and functional support departments.
