**Applicant must physically reside within 1 hour of Orla, TX.
The Mechanic & Field Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to schedule, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of transportation equipment according to company and DOT guidelines. These practices complement standards for safety, preventative and scheduled maintenance, and repair best practices.
General Duties and Responsibilities

Strictly follows and enforces all safety requirements and champions a safety-first culture

Repairs and maintains all company vehicles and equipment, such as trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment

Responsible for all shop maintenance and facility functions
-
Troubleshoots and determines appropriate cost-effective repairs; examines parts for defects and excessive wear
-
Maintains all DOT, maintenance, tire, and vehicle inspection files for compliance
-
Entry and preparation of monthly computer reports, mileages, and vehicle transfers
-
Ensure annual DOT, vehicle, state, and cargo tests are performed within regulatory guidelines
-
Ensure proper DOT, state/annual inspection, insurance documents and other necessary information are contained and up to date in the cab folder

Schedules all service and repair work, both internally and externally

Responsible to maintain shop parts and tire inventories

Review and finalize repair orders

Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of transportation equipment

Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service

Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and adjust

Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties

Maintains effective communication with Manager of Mechanics for service and repair logistics and cost tracking

Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas

Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.

Regular attendance at the worksite is required.
Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.

Operate necessary tools, equipment, and diagnostic computers.

Operate forklifts and lifting equipment.
-
Maintain a clean driving record to operate company vehicles.
-
Comply with any additional tasks and assignments.

Ability to work overtime as necessary.
-
Ability to be a positive representative of the Company both internally and externally.

Ability to always work with respect and cooperation with fellow employees and customers.

Must be committed to always working safely.
Experience/Education:
-
High school diploma / GED or equivalent experience is required
-
Associate’s degree or apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance a plus

Requires a valid driver’s license
-
Must be 21 years of age or older
Travel:
Negligible travel required.

This position is required to be performed at the work site during regularly scheduled hours. Physical presence at the work site is required.
