The Domestic Relations Paralegal will support the Domestic Relations Department and their clients in all aspects of their matters. A successful candidate must have a strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple matters concurrently and be able meet demanding deadlines. This position requires contact with attorneys, other support staff and clients. Therefore, the right candidate must be able to balance the needs and demands of the clients with those of the attorneys. This position is bound by confidentiality of client and Firm matters. Extensive experience in Domestic Relations is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Draft simple pleadings though turbolaw and manage documents on internal systems.
Work directly with clients to compile documents and draft Rule 401 Financial Statements and Rule 410 mandatory discovery.
Manage all aspects of discovery including: preparing outgoing requests, reviewing incoming requests and working with clients to prepare draft answers and gather documents, reviewing documents for deficiencies, preparing Rule 26G letters; docketing and managing discovery deadlines; organizing documents and preparing related charts as needed; drafting subpoena.
Assist in the all aspects of trial preparation, including creating deposition exhibits abstracts; preparing trial binders.
Meet, assist, and correspond with clients.
Conduct research on factual topics related to cases.
Work directly with department attorneys and assistants in docketing court dates and deadlines.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
College degree preferred
Two to five years as a Domestic Relations paralegal required. Five years preferred.
Attention to detail
Strong research and writing abilities
Ability to use Microsoft Office and/or learn new computer programs.
A professional attitude and approach to people are essential.
Possess the ability to concentrate and be flexible with diverse tasks in a consistent and orderly manner in a fast-paced environment.
Work occasionally requires irregular hours and/or more than 35 hours per week to perform essential duties of the position.
Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.
Must be able to perform duties with minimal supervision.
Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
