Full Job Description
Parkhurst Dining is seeking an experienced Pastry Chef/Bakery Supervisor to oversee the Bakery at Duquesne University. The ideal candidate is experienced in management or supervisory role in a large scale baking and pastry operation. Schedule is slightly flexible, but is generally Sunday-Thursday, 4:30pm-1:00am. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), vacation, parking, and a competitive hourly rate.
Oversee all bakery production for campus foodservice operations. Operations include All-you-care-to-eat Dining Hall, Retail Outlets, Large Volume Catering, and more.
Oversee three union bakers in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Ensure quality, safety, and timeliness of all bakery items.
Items to be produced include cookies, cakes, pies, plated desserts, specialty desserts, pizza dough, breads, etc.
Supervise Night Cleaners to ensure that their work is being completed.
Create new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of our guests.
Associates Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts, or equivalent experience.
Experience managing large scale baking/pastry operation.
Basic computer skills.
Experience ordering products and tracking inventory levels.
Skilled at decorating cakes.
Great attention to detail and creativity.
Organization and leadership skills.
