Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts has an
exciting career opportunity for a strategic, innovative Chief Marketing
Officer . Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the
successful candidate will oversee and partner with a team of professionals and
will have overall responsibility for GSEMA’s communications, branding and
public relations strategies. The Chief Marketing Officer will be responsible
for ensuring the integration and consistency of all communications, and will
ultimately be responsible and held accountable for enhancing GSEMA’s brand and
reputation with internal and external constituents council-wide. The Chief
Marketing Officer will help determine the objectives, policies and plans for
communicating messages to a variety of constituencies, including the executive
team, Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, community leaders, the media, donors
and the general public. This position supervises public and media relations, marketing,
and brand management staff.

As
a key member of the council executive team, the Chief Marketing Officer
participates in the process of setting the organizations strategic direction
and short and long-term plans, and in translating the vision and corporate
goals set by the GSEMA’s Board of Directors into effective operational
strategies and actions for all marketing efforts.

Key Responsibilities

As
a key member of the council executive team, the Chief Marketing Officer
participates in the process of setting the organization’s strategic direction
and short and long term plans, set by GSEMA’s Board of Directors.
Provides
professional expertise and direction to the CEO and the Board of Directors on
all aspects of marketing, public relations, and communications.
Creates,
develops and implements a comprehensive council marketing, public relations
communications plan.
Approves
all publication materials produced for internal and external audiences, relaying
a consistent message of the GSEMA image/brand.
Recruits,
hires and develops staff on the communication team.
Creates,
develops, and implements a fully integrated Council annual communication plan
based on GSUSA marketing strategy.
Works
diligently to build highly credible relationships with constituents.
Prepares
speeches and public correspondence on behalf of management for the CEO,
President and the Council’s Board of Directors.
Oversees
and approves the preparation and design of all council-related marketing
materials, both print and electronic, including the Council’s web site.
Establishes
brand communication policies and goals.
Supervises
the communications, brand management, and public and media relations staff for
consistent messages both internal and external.
Prepares
a comprehensive crisis communication strategy and plan for implementation.
Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s
degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
Minimum
of 7 years of experience leading and directing the marketing/communications
functions for a multi-million dollar organization.
Proven
track record of leadership and management experience in a role that combines
communications, internal and community activities.
Superior
management and coaching skills; ability to work collaboratively and motivate
direct and indirect reports and peers; proven ability to effectively interface
with senior management, the Board of Directors, and staff.
Experience
in the development of budgets and ability to manage resources effectively.
Ability
to model behavior consistent with the Principles of Inclusiveness and Girl
Scout Mission, Promise, Values and Law.
Strong
public relations skills and ability to create and maintain relationships with
outside media and constituents.
Ability
to effectively identify, analyze and solve problems.
Ability
to work collaboratively with all other functional areas in furtherance of
Council goals.
Non-profit
experience desirable.
Must
have the passion and drive to be a part of an organization devoted to the
development and support of girls.
