The Saunders Company is currently seeking a Controller to join our team. As a key player in supporting daily operations of the executive team, this position requires a team player with strong attention to detail who takes pride in producing quality work products and maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems. The Controller will provide leadership and coordination of company financial planning, debt financing, and budget management functions.
Responsibilities of the Controller
Manage all financial activities including:
Prepare general and sub-ledger accounts (for multiple entities)
Process certified payroll/prevailing wage for 40+ employees.
Experience with Human Resources.
Prepare financial statements, indirect cost report, labor distribution reports
Prepare project profitability analysis to include actuals to enable informed decision-making
Responsible for closing the books - monthly, preparing monthly/quarterly/annual and state tax filings.
Prepare cash flow projections.
Assist the President with creating financing options and strategies for debt management and streamline cash flow
Ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles, (GAAP)
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, advising executive team on needed actions
Act as the key agent in continuous development and implementation of finance and accounting policy, best practice, and process improvements.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar discipline
8+ Years of experience in progressively responsible roles performing financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and reporting and strategic planning duties in a mid to large corporation.
Experience in Civil Construction Industry
Experience with Sage Accounting Software and HCSS Construction Software – HeavyJob & HeavyBid
Experience with annual company revenue of $10 - $15MM
