Must have a current Virginia Division of Criminal Justice certification as a Law Enforcement Officer. Must have experience as a sworn Police Officer in Virginia.
Performs law enforcement duties in an assigned area during a specific period; assists in investigations of criminal offenses and in the apprehension of criminals; does related work as required.
Graduation from high school; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
The Henrico Police Division is seeking qualified applicants who are currently certified as a Law Enforcement Officers by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. The following factors must be met for consideration:
- Graduate of a Virginia DCJS certified police training academy
- Employed as a sworn officer, deputy, investigator, detective or sworn supervisor
- Complete and successfully pass all levels of the police officer selection process
A starting salary above entry-level step 1 may be considered based on the qualifications of the applicant and needs of the Police Division at time of hire. All salary considerations will be on a case-by-case basis in conjunction with County of Henrico Department of Human Resources.

Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Virginia. Must be a citizen of the United States. Requires a pre-employment physical examination and/or medical tests administered by Henrico County Employee Health Services, the components of which are based on and appropriate to the specific sensory and/or physical demands of the job. Vision requirement is uncorrected vision greater than 20/100 (20/100 must correct to 20/40 in both eyes).
The Henrico County Police Division has a tobacco policy which states all sworn Police Officers and Animal Protection Police Officers shall refrain from smoking or the use of any tobacco products while on duty or off duty.
A full background investigation, including a criminal history record check and fingerprinting, is conducted on all persons who are selected to proceed to the background phase of the process.
