Applied Research Associates, Inc. has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional biological threats analyst with experience identifying, characterizing, and assessing natural and man-made biological threats. This position routinely provides defense planners and operators with timely and accurate characterizations of adversary biological threats, WMD programs, and proliferation and procurement networks. This position generates recommendations in the form of technical briefings, reports, and other analytic documents. Positon collaborates with the Intelligence Community, DOD, national labs, and academia to address biological threat issues. As a biological threats subject-matter expert, this position provides guidance to less experienced staff, reviews the work of others, authoritatively contributes to multi-functional analytic teams, and maintains currency in understanding relevant biological technologies, trends, and procedures. The position also devises, evaluates, and recommends new methodologies and analytical tools that are under development.
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
MS or MA degree in Biochemistry or related field.
Demonstrated proficiency utilizing biomedical and academic databases and search engines (PubMed, Web of Science)
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within or lead a team of peers, as well as excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
Ability to communicate complex analyses at a level comprehensible to laymen and senior-level government representatives.
Ability to clearly express in writing technical analysis results and program characterizations.
Word, Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
Active TS/SCI clearance.
7+ years of experience with intelligence analysis, including employing multi-INT databases to develop analytic assessments and briefings.
Demonstrated knowledge of biological threats, biodefense, WMD, and/or counterproliferation.
Practical understanding of the technical requirements that enable advanced biological research and development.
A working familiarity with US biodefense and counter-biological threats initiatives, programs, and/or activities.
PhD in Microbiology, Virology, Immunology, Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology, Biodefense, or Life Sciences.
Military or defense-related experience and an understanding of operational planning and WMD pathway defeat.
Experience effectively devising, utilizing, and communicating methodological approaches to complex problem sets.
