Position Overview: This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of strategic plans and processes to address systemic EHSS Issues; collaborating with CCNA Supply Chain functional areas including, Platforms, Plants, BUs, Engineering, PAC, Environmental, Quality, Logistics, Commercialization and the Productivity COE. This position is responsible for tracking and trending EHSS performance across the CCNA Supply Chain, providing strategic direction to senior and Platform leadership on the development of appropriate corrective action plans to improve performance. This position coordinates external relationships with the corporate governance function, external regulatory bodies, customers, NGOs and trade associations. This position is responsible for providing technical expertise, development, leadership, and supervision for the EHSS to create a culture of improvement supporting each Platform and Plants within CCNA Supply Chain.

Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
Strategy - Provides input into the development, implementation, management and execution of strategic plans, goals and actions that sets a strong EHSS that effectively address the organization's risk profile, aligns with management systems, and the development of a positive EHSS culture.

Execute/ Direct
Facilitate, conduct, and/or respond to EHSS assessments/analyses throughout North America to minimize EHSS risks.
Provide direction and guidance for serious EHS incidents.
Assist in the development and closure of EHSS initiatives with each client group
Lead communications and provide direction on the interaction with governmental agencies, including but not limited to OSHA, DOT, EPA, local agencies to support the minimization of regulatory exposure
Leverage business relationship and influence leadership and operations to support, communicate, and drive the execution and sustainability of current and future EHSS programs and action plans
Responsible for the implementation/ rollout of programs, policies and procedures in CCNA Supply Chain to enable compliance, injury reduction, capability building, engagement and sustainable management system elements.
Define, establish, and support energy efficiency, GHG reduction, water efficiency, source water protection and facility level recycling sustainability strategies for CCNA.
Provide direction to plant level SES managers to ensure compliance and adherence to corporate guidelines.

Analyze & Monitor
Analyze, monitor and communicate KBI's and other performance indicators to drive sustained improvements; identify negative trends and implement corrective action plans
Ensure the review of facility operations environments (e.g. technology, systems, design, quality, cost efficiencies, yield) in order to recommend process improvements that deliver financial benefit.
Ensure sustainable design review processes exist for new equipment and/or procedures to recommend improvements

Leadership
Serve as a subject matter expert in EHSS and consult client groups in providing support to facilities and customers. This includes acting as a resource for Engineering projects involving Wastewater, Storm water, EHS implications, general information and acting as a consultant for other technical functions in the company.
Provide technical support, regulatory guidance and training to associates at all levels of the organization to develop a strong EHSS, safe working environment, and share best practices.
Analyze situations and take action to remove strategic and cultural barriers or obstacles (e.g., lack of senior management commitment, inadequate reinforcement of behavior, high variance against KBI's) that may affect performance and/or project completion.
Provide development, mentoring/coaching, motivation, and leadership to SES Managers; Provide feedback regularly and during the performance review process
Maintain relationships with external groups and attend professional meetings and conferences to stay abreast of emerging regulatory issues to better position the company for compliance

Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree required in Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or Related Field (will consider combination of experience and education). Preferred Level:

Master's Degree, Professional certifications (CSP. ASP, CRSP, ARM, CIH,CHMM)

Related Work Experience: Minimum Required:
5-7 years leadership experience in EHSS supporting a multi-function / multi-unit environment

Preferred Level:
8-10 years in Environmental or Occupational Health and Safety Management or related field.
Experience with OHSAS 18001 management systems implementation
Experience with multi-function / multi-unit environment

Skills: Minimum Required:
Knowledge of US EH&S Regulations
Ability to develop, and execute effective waste water treatment designs that ensure permit compliance. High degree of skill in direct interactions with local and federal EPA officials.
Auditing Processes and Management Systems (OSHAS 18001. ISO 14001),
Excellent written, oral, time management and interpersonal skills.
Project Management Experience

Ability to travel 25 - 50%
Proficient with Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio

Preferred Level:
Lead auditor certified (ISO / OHSAS)
Proficient regulatory negotiator
