The VMware Communities and Influencer team runs programs for our 5 million IT practitioners who all have high regard for VMware and it's products. With over 2000 influencers and 800+ bloggers, the program is one of the most mature in the tech industry. Community managing the bloggers and working with BU's to promote and manage the blog program at VMware is challenging and rewarding. You get to work with customers, influencers and business unit managers driving valuable content into the VMware community eco-system.
The team environment is strong, but not micro-managed, you will have the freedom to be creative while engaging with the bloggers and influencers while promoting your own content as a influencer yourself. You will get to attend our tradeshows yearly and be a part of a great ecosystem.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
Success is defined by:
1. Blogger program participants and driving the content into our social media campaign programs.
2. Supporting the Business Unit blogs and their requirements for their blogs
3. Working with IT and contractors to support the Wordpress server environments, keeping plugins and feature up-to-date.
4. Becoming a beacon blogger and champion of other bloggers, building programs to drive views for them.
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
1. Weekly IT and Agency meetings to keep WordPress environment at blogs.vmware.com operational, secure, and up to brand look/feel.
2. Quarterly Affiliate blogger program management activities, driving best practices and promotional opportunities to the 800+ bloggers in the program
3. Working with BU's on a bi-monthly basis to support the 80+ blogs and the bloggers that are writing articles for those blogs.
4. Selectively working on blogs articles promoting VMware technology, blogs, promotions and events.
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
We are a flat team, where all members report to the Sr Director, and all come to our weekly staff on zoom. The Sr Director is also a influencer, running weekly podcasts, and running a large part of the community eco-system. VMUG/VMTN/vExpert programs. Everyone on the team is technical and can build page content (HTML/css) as well as generate content via photoshop, Streamyard, adobe premier. You will be a leader of 800+ bloggers, where your role is to make their independent blogs successful and drive vmware.com traffic to their properties.
Where is this role located?
Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable commute of the office.
