Job Title: Costume Design Assistant
Classifications: Seasonal, Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Costume Shop Manager
Long Wharf Theatre (LWT), a regional nonprofit theatre with a mission to create high-quality theatre that engages and inspires our community is seeking seeks applicants for Costume Design Assistant.
Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

Serving as the chief liaison between the Costume Shop and Designer
Sourcing, pulling, renting, shopping and returning of all garments and materials for each build in close collaboration with the Designer and Costume Shop Manager
Creation and maintenance of all show paperwork
Attendance of fittings, production meetings and technical rehearsals
Transportation of Designer in company vehicle as required
Occasional stitching and craft work
Participation in the maintenance and organization of costume shop and storage spaces
Maintain a high level of execution and a safe work environment
Work with Long Wharf Theatre employees in a collegial manner
Submit timesheets to supervisor according to current requirements
Attend trainings in administrative procedures as required
Attend safety trainings as required
Previous professional experience as a Costume Design Assistant desired, but all applicants will be considered.
You should have excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills; excellent period and contemporary style knowledge; comfortable with theatrical costuming stitching and craft techniques; must be able to climb stairs and have the ability to lift 40 pounds; a valid driver’s license required with a clean driving record (subject to a motor vehicle record check). Working on Weekends, Evenings, and Travel is frequently required.
This job requires high standards and a strong sense of responsibility. Outstanding organizational and computer skills are necessary. Applicants should possess a good eye for detail and consistency. You should possess the ability to operate well under pressure in a collaborative environment, with a positive and dedicated problem-solving attitude.
