Licensed Therapist/Mental Health Counselor Needed

The Crime Victims Center, dba Parents for Megan's Law a Suffolk County based rape crisis and crime victims center is seeking a full-time New York State Licensed LMSW, LCSW, RCSW, Mental Health Counselor or Psychologist to provide crisis counseling, short and long term counseling to child and adult victims of sexual assault and other violent crimes. You must be prepared to provide services to a caseload of trauma survivors and be fluent in English and Spanish. The position start date is October 22, 2018 and we are actively interviewing now. Candidate will be an integral member of the organization's crime victim advocacy team and will be responsible for delivering comprehensive bilingual holistic trauma informed treatment and support services, as primary counselor, to child and adult victims and non-offending family members through individual, family and group counseling. Candidate will also provide crime victim advocacy support services for crime victims.

REQUIREMENTS: Active New York State License required and insurance.

Salaried Position: This is a position which will initially require candidate to train and work Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 5 PM. After training and experience garnered, the schedule will become more flexible and will include some evenings and Saturdays as needed to accommodate our clients.

EXPERIENCE: * Willingness and strong desire to work with Trauma victims. MINIMUM of three years of experience in mental health counseling. * Individual (child and adult), family and group counseling and case management or victim services experience. * Superb verbal and written communication skills (Spanish and English). * Experience, knowledge of and or willingness to practice Rogerian, Cognitive Behavioral and Play Therapeutic Approaches. * Computer literate - Excel, Word and PowerPoint. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: * Candidate MUST be fluent in English and Spanish. * Provide individual clinical counseling and therapy, family and group counseling, and case management (linkage, referral, advocacy and consultation), crisis intervention and planning for clients on caseload.
