Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join the Nicholas Center in Port Washington as a One-to-One Direct Support Professional for an adult with autism. As a one on one support professional, you will be responsible for providing personalized assistance to an individual with autism in their daily life. Your role will involve implementing and monitoring individualized plans, promoting independence, and helping the individual achieve their goals.

Positions Available: One-to-One Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:15 AM to 3:15 PM *Ideal, flexible schedule for a parent/caregiver or someone who needs/wants to work another job!

Job Duties & Responsibilties for One-to-One Direct Support Professional (DSP):
- Provide one-to-one support to an adult with autism in the community, and workplace.
- Implement individualized plans designed to meet the specific needs of the individual, as directed by the supervising clinician.
- Help the individual develop social and communication skills, as well as daily living skills such as self-care, and social, emotional, and vocational skills.
- Assist the individual in participating in recreational activities that align with their interests and preferences.
- Monitor and document the individual's progress and report any changes or concerns to the supervising clinician.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for the individual, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the support team.
- Attend training and development sessions to improve knowledge and skills related to autism and direct support.
- Be prompt, organized and respectful to your co-workers, the people you support and the members of the community.
- Adhere to the Organizational Core Values - People, Professionalism, Community, Innovation, Integrity (training provided).
- Adhere to the organization’s Code of Ethics and perform your duties satisfactory as outlined in the Core Competencies (training provided).
- Complete all required training and maintain confidentiality.
Minimum Job Qualifications for One-to-One Specialist (DSP):
- 18 years of age or older
- High School completion is required.
- Must be able to bend and lift items 30 lbs or less.
- Must be able to multi-task and stand for the majority of the day.
- Clean and valid driver’s license and no infractions that preclude a person from working with members of a vulnerable population.
Experience: Experience required.
License: Driver's License - Required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
