Position Title: Coordinator of Middle School/Junior High Ministries
Reports To: Director of Youth Ministries; Director of Family Life Ministry (DFLM); Executive Coordinator; Executive Director
This position is primarily responsible for supporting the Youth Director and Director of Family Life Ministry. In support of the core values and principles under Family Life and Youth Ministries, the Coordinator of Middle School/Junior High Ministries will equip each middle school youth in developing a fully committed life in Jesus Christ and to find his or her destiny in Christ.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Committed follower of Christ who affirms the essential tenets of the Presbyterian Church and Reformed faith.
Has a passion and a shepherd’s heart for middle school youth.
Confident with and enjoys working with Middle School students.
Baccalaureate degree with a calling, training and experience in youth ministry.
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a passenger van.
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally on missions trips.

Embraces and implements First Presbyterian Church’s (FPC) mission and values
Embraces and implements FLM mission, vision and core values
Implements the policies and procedures of FPC and the FLM
Assist in the development of and executes programs for Middle School students [currently grades 6, 7 and 8] that are geared to live out the purpose statement of FPC calling kids to know Christ as Savior and Lord.
Responsible for the execution of programs designed for Middle School youth and parents of the church addressing the unique needs of early and mid adolescents within their families, helping them to become committed and growing disciples by understanding what it means to follow Christ. Some of the program areas include: identifying spiritual gifts; assisting in transition into the Senior High ministry; assimilation into the life of the congregation; providing service and mission opportunities to serve as Christ’s body in the world; developing a parent leadership team; conducting parenting classes.
Execute Middle School outreach programs and effective ministry involvement to the local community. Involves contact and relationships with other youth workers, school campus contacts and visitations, other community opportunities.
Cultivate on-going relationships with students who potentially move into student leadership positions.
Identify needs for pastoral care including counseling and visitation to members of the congregation with emphasis on the youth and families of FPC
Assume leadership role in worship as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Assist in the recruitment and training of lead lay leaders and student leaders for youth ministry.
Work collegially with other members of the staff, session, and congregation of the church to achieve the mission and vision of FPC.
Concern of the overall safety of youth & volunteers; reports to directors any findings that could be potentially harmful
Sensitive and respectful of families needs and reports to directors any findings that could be potentially harmful
Present and provides support to the Director of Youth Ministry and FLM Director at various leadership meetings, events, trips and retreats
Records and distributes minutes; tracks follow through as needed
Familiar with computerized check in and out system including entering new families/youth into the database system and maintain current information
Supports the maintenance of records (screening process) for all volunteers
Assists in encouraging volunteers and strives to meet their needs to be successful in promoting the spiritual development of our youth
