Distinguishing Characteristics:
Library Clerk is a classification found in the Library Department and is distinguished by the performance of various technical and clerical duties under general supervision. Work hours may vary and include nights and weekends. Includes direct public contact. Some previous knowledge of library operations required.
In lieu of providing a medical plan, the City grants a medical stipend of $3.34 per hour which will increase to $3.41 on July 1, 2019, and $3.48 on July 1, 2020. Example $21.26 (hourly rate) + $3.34 (medical stipend) = $24.60 per hour.
This is an SEIU Hourly (limited-benefits) position that is budgeted to not exceed 1,000 hours per fiscal year. The number of hours per week and schedule will be determined based on assignment.

Essential Duties
Checks in the library's newly arrived items.
Maintains computer files for library materials; adds, deletes and updates information.
Enter bibliographic data into the online library system.
Communicates with vendors to request approved items or to ask questions; refers further communications to the supervisor.
Accepts and unpacks up to 25-pound boxes of deliveries and shipments of library materials; checks for accuracy; returns incorrect or damaged materials to vendors.
Orders receive and invoices materials into the library's computer system.
Assists with special projects and programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Sufficient education, training and/or work experience to demonstrate possession of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities which would typically be acquired through:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 6 months experience working in a library
