The Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit has an immediate opening for a highly motivated and experienced cybercrime investigator to manage investigations and high impact disruption operations in the United States, Canada and Latin America while interacting and collaborating with global teams. Microsoft’s DCU is a global team of attorneys, investigators, and analysts committed to leading the fight against cybercrime to protect our customers and promote global trust in Microsoft. DCU is on the front line of Microsoft’s commitment to address cybercrimes such as Business Email Compromise, Tech Support Fraud and Malware
You will have the opportunity to work side by side with world class investigators to collaborate on investigations of complex cybercrime and sophisticated online criminal networks. You will collaborate closely with various teams across the company to help drive strategies to investigate and disrupt cybercrime to protect our customers.
Identify and analyze data sources to uncover cybercrime patterns and trends targeting our services and customers
Develop investigative and mitigation processes to address new and existing threats
Collaborate with other investigators, analysts, security experts and cross-company stakeholders to implement comprehensive investigative and enforcement strategies
Conduct analysis on large, complex data sets to detect and investigate anomalies, develop actionable insights and strategies
Work independently to detect, investigate, and understand new and emerging cybercrime attack vectors
Partner with DCU attorneys to develop legal strategies to disrupt and impact online criminal networks
Possess at least five years of either private sector or law enforcement investigative experience involving complex computer-related and internet facilitated crimes
Ability to perform deep investigations on complex, sensitive matters
Practical experience in Internet technologies, including network forensics and web development
Strong experience in threat intelligence analysis and reporting using common tools and techniques
Experience using Microsoft cloud platform and services including Azure and O365
Demonstrated experience in operations against threats to corporate and/or consumer information systems and services
Strong technical problem-solving skills
Ability to drive optimal decisions through data analysis with great attention to detail
Self-motivated team player with a desire to make an impact
Excellent oral/written communication/presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate in English and Spanish with both internal and external stakeholders. Portuguese is an asset.
This position has no people management responsibility; however, he/she is expected to consult and advise the colleagues in matters regarding work-related duties for their function. Working closely with other teams is critical to the success of this candidate.
