Position Title: Nuclear Medicine/ PET Tech
Department: Genesis Imaging Center
Purpose: Provides general and specialized diagnostic imaging service and care to patients during both diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures. The technologist is accountable for optimal diagnostic images through the use of various types of diagnostic equipment. Nuclear medicine and PET imaging are performed on a daily basis.
Report To: Director, Radiology Services
Supervisory Responsibility: No Supervision: The job does not require the provision of guidance or supervision to others. There is no formal responsibility for directing others.
Materials Responsibility: Limited: Work requires limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include supplies, equipment, inventories, small budgets, and other similar material assets. The employee has a limited amount of control over these resources. The cost of errors is also limited in terms of damage, waste or financial loss. Problems associated with material resources are not complex. The volume of resources may vary, but the level of difficulty in dealing with these resources is uncomplicated.

POSITION SPECIFICATION
Education: 3 year college/university program or equivalent experience
Special Training: Nuclear Med Technologist; NMTCB registered; Basic Life Support.
Licensure/Registration: ARRT Certificate in Nuclear Medicine or NMTCB certified, Iowa Permit to Practice
Experience: More than 1 year experience required.
Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people. These may be fellow employees, customers, the public or others outside the organization. Communications are of limited difficulty. Interactions usually involve short, straightforward exchanges of information. The job requires a limited amount of interpersonal skills. Interactions are non-stressful encounters and dealing with uncomplicated problem situations.
Physical Demands: High Intensity: Work requires heavy physical exertion and effort. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 25 to 50 pounds. The need for physical stamina and endurance is great. The degree of physical strain produced on the job is high. It results in fatigue, and requires periods of rest. Job requirements for manual dexterity and physical manipulation are high. Work could involve the coordination of body movements involving various body postures. The position exceeds these high intensity demands routinely, 36-70% of the time.
Working Conditions: There is routine exposure to highly adverse environmental conditions including physical hazards, health and safety risks, and otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment. Personal risks require safety equipment or precautions to be followed closely. The time the employee may be exposed to these conditions is limited to 70% or less of the work day.
