Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in ensuring the building(s), equipment and utilities are maintained in good working order and facility grounds are properly maintained in accordance with facility policies.

Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds using proper body mechanics. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies. Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.
Make rounds, asses, and make minor repairs. Assist Maintenance Supervisor with large repairs. Conduct preventative maintenance as assigned to include but not limited to facility logs such as water temperature, call lights, generator and fire alarms. May assist in training of new team members. May be responsible for maintenance department in the absence of the maintenance supervisor.
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB, and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.

Attend and participate in educations activities, in-service training, and staff meetings; assist in orientation and training other staff.
Participate in Quality Improvement activities as assigned.
