My Girlfriend’s House, Inc. (MGH) has been providing valuable mentoring and community outreach services to teenage girls in the Prince George’s County, Montgomery County, Saint Charles County, Howard County and Washington DC community since 2010. Our mission is to empower under-served young teenage girls to develop a positive understanding of self-worth while enhancing their academic and career skills.

My Girlfriend’s House has implemented several programs and initiatives that have allowed us to reach a diverse group of at-risk teen girls in our community. These programs are focused on accomplishing key components to our overall mission: empowerment, leadership, academic and health awareness and self-confidence.

Our nonprofit is seeking a Grant Writer Intern to help us attain our overall financial and advancement goals.

Job duties will include:

  • Developing and writing grant proposals to corporations and other grant-making organizations
  • Persuasively communicating the organization’s mission and programs to potential funds.
  • Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations
  • Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors
  • Maintain calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, final reports and budget reconciliations
  • Conduct prospect research and bring new funding sources to fruition
  • Assist with other development projects as requested

The ideal candidate must have excellent writing, analytical, and research skills. Candidates must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and highly-organized, and have experience using online databases and other sources to locate biographical, financial, and philanthropic information. A high level of computer literacy is also required.

We are looking for candidates who are available to start immediately. We also have opportunities available at the start of 2020 for the Winter/Spring term. College graduates and MBA candidates are strongly preferred. Great opportunity to make an immediate impact on a small team!
