Notre Dame AmeriCorps believes that education is the fundamental tool in the struggle for human dignity, self-esteem and self-determination. AmeriCorps members commit to a year of full-time service in a variety of areas: small groups and one-on-one instruction in elementary, middle and high schools; after school enrichment programs; adult education in GED, ESOL, job readiness and literacy programs; educational support in domestic violence and homeless shelters; recurring mentoring for at-risk students Visit www.ndmva.org for more information on our program.
Member Duties : NDA Chicago partners with elementary and middle schools, after-school programs, and community centers. Each site has a unique service description with members assisting in the classroom, serving as academic interventionists, providing additional support in after-school programs, leading computer literacy classes, as well providing graduate support and counseling. Members also attend bi-weekly team trainings and participate in a number of service projects in the communities where they serve.
