Essential functions and responsibilities:
Conduct operational audits of business functions (A/P, A/R, Payroll, etc.) and compliance audits of regulatory functions and submit reports to Senior Management;
Substantively test effectiveness of controls;
Document work performed to clearly indicate testing performed, results and conclusions reached;
Assist in preparing audit reports based on the assessment of the Internal Control Structure of the given function;
Develop and update internal audit tools (programs and internal control questionnaires) based on the policies and procedures of the organization;
Work with Auditors to assist and advise customers on ways to improve business processes, in accordance with the policies, procedures and practices of the organization;
Be available to travel out of town 15-20%;
Have a working knowledge or be able to learn and utilize the business applications (Pro-Filer, Oracle, etc.) and automated audit software used at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health;
Self-motivated and able to operate in a fast-paced environment.
Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health’s Internal Audit team focuses its efforts on Servant Leadership and delivering the best possible Audit Consulting experience to our exceptional employees. Under the direction of the Director of Internal Audit, and supporting the operating Centers located in 13 states, the Auditor is responsible for all stages of compliance, and operational audits with minimal oversight. The Auditor will work with the Director of Internal Audit to enhance business practices and internal controls, performing complex internal audits and reporting audit findings for correction and/or improvement in compliance, and operational, and/or management control systems. Prepares audit plans/reports and discusses project findings with center and corporate management. Corporate Center staff include Clinical, Finance, IT, Human Resources, Legal, Contracts, Development, and Marketing/Communications staff.
Bachelor’s degree Preferably in Accounting but will consider other areas of study, e.g., Behavioral Health, Health Sciences, Health Administration, Public Health, Nursing or other related field ; Certification or working towards Certification(CPA, CIA, &/or CISA ) preferred;
Prior Audit and/or Compliance experience a plus;
Working knowledge or ability to learn and utilize the business applications (Pro-Filer, Oracle, etc.) used at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health;
Strong writing skills; Requires the ability to prepare clear, concise documentation;
Ability to work independently and also collaborate and communicate with co-workers to increase efficiency and enhance the team’s time management, meet established deadlines, and identify and prioritize multiple tasks to assure timely completion.
