The primary function of this position is to be the Global lead in the Strategic Segment of AIG’s Trade Credit business, by producing, underwriting and managing a portfolio of Trade Credit insurance business and managing a global team. The key deliverables are:
Set, agree and deliver financial and budgetary goals for the segment.
Implement strategic plans as agreed with the Global Head of Trade Credit
Markets credit insurance through a focused distribution system of select producers
Enforces and maintains underwriting guidelines
Leads, supervises, trains and mentors the underwriting teams.
Provides technical advice to underwriters, credit analysts, brokers, insureds and claims regarding scope of coverage, interpretation of wordings and applications
Ensures compliance with auditing and peer review standards
Acts as senior account manager on the strategic polices in the global book, managing broker and insured relationships
Is focal point for product line in the regional (NA) GI reporting line within AIG
Create and implement tactical sales plans to develop the defined trade credit market in the Strategic segment. Determine the most effective combination of the sales variables (product, price, distribution and communication) to achieve the objectives in targeted industries and specific categories of companies;
Assist in selling and marketing credit insurance through a focused distribution system of select producers. This includes producer/underwriter management and training as well as motivation and guidance.
Lead in renewing, managing and servicing existing business/policies is a key requirement with the specific objectives:
Strengthen personal relationships with Insureds and Brokers.
Met agreed SLA’s on Insured’s policy requirements, limit requests, etc.
Ensure the renewal and growth of profitable policies.
The position requires the individual to meet and visit Insureds and buyers and take the opportunity to review their operations and evaluate risk factors. A close relationship with the Credit Officer team and other team members, Insureds and producers is necessary.
The employee will underwrite and have the highest delegated authority for the product segment. The candidate must assess whether each Insured’s receivables management processes and systems meet AIG’s minimum criteria.
Other responsibilities will include
understanding the approved policy forms, terms and conditions;
developing full insurance application information;
Preparing underwriting raters to structure a quotation within his/her underwriting authority or for approval by risk committee and/or RPC.
Negotiating with prospect’s senior management to bind a policy.
Ensure all the administrative functions are effectively performed to bind and issue the policy
Ensure the billing of premium and input of data into the relevant AIG systems.
The employee must be able to review the financials of Insureds and, more importantly, their buyers, including the following activities:
Assess financial information, balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement, the buyer’s credit rating, the reputation of the owner/management, how long business has been in operation, and trade and credit history.
Develop awareness and understanding of foreign country conditions and risks
What we are looking for
A College Degree with specialization in Finance, Accounting or International Business (or equivalent)
Must have management, supervisory experience.
Able to demonstrate a global awareness and understanding of the Trade Credit market.
Ten to twenty years of Trade Credit underwriting experience and five years in financial statement and credit analysis
Good sales and marketing skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good oral and written skills
High level of IT literacy
