The Marketing and Promotions Manager contributes to the success of HI USA by building awareness and understanding of HI USA’s brand and mission, and by driving overnight stays and revenue at its hostels. The Marketing and Promotions Manager oversees and implements marketing campaigns that extend brand awareness and affinity to HI USA’s target audiences. Additionally, he/she works with the Operations Vice Presidents and hostel managers to market individual hostels and support promotional needs within hostels. The Marketing and Promotions Manager supports internal teams to promote educational & engagement programs, fundraising initiatives and hostel events. This position will require regular travel to HI USA hostels as well as professional and internal conferences.

Collaborate closely with all members of the Marketing & Communications team to achieve HI USA’s overall marketing goals
Oversee promotional campaigns that build brand awareness and create interest in our experiential travel offerings
Oversee cross-channel marketing & advertising programs for hostels to drive overnights and revenue. This may include, but is not limited to, digital advertising, PPC advertising, Metasearch advertising, video advertising, display, email and print
Work closely with the Brand Design Manager to develop compelling advertisements and marketing materials that tell HI USA’s brand story and promote our distinctive selling points
Collaborate with the Social Media Coordinator to extend social media campaigns across multiple channels (Search, native, video, etc.)
Collaborate with the content strategy team to ensure a consistent brand message carries across content marketing and promotional marketing
Support the Development, Education and Engagement teams by managing marketing campaigns, promotions and collateral needs in support of HI USA’s mission
Support the External Affairs team with promotional efforts for fund-raising and donor relations.
Supervise the production of marketing materials including evaluating marketing objectives, brainstorming concepts, project management, ensuring delivery and evaluating performance (as applicable)
Monitor and report campaign performance, using data to make appropriate campaign improvements
Utilize market research to create or optimize promotional campaigns
Test, optimize and experiment with promotional campaigns to achieve desired goals
Keep up with marketing, hosteling and travel industry shifts and trends to inform promotional strategies
Manage and update a database of hostel market profiles such as seasonality, competition, and guest mix
Represent the hostels’ needs and market conditions in the development of the HI USA strategic marketing plan & budget
Support the Vice President of Marketing in managing cyclical and special projects as needed (e.g., annual reports, Board elections, special events, etc.)
Oversee development of print materials. (e.g., brochures, newsletters, direct mail, etc.)
Manage relationships and oversee the work of marketing vendors as assigned

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, or related field
Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in marketing, advertising or related field
High comfort level with key marketing concepts and best practices
Professional experience with digital marketing required
Experience using marketing analytical tools such as Google Analytics, Facebook Business Manager, Google Ads and similar tools
Experience using Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams
Experience using Web site Content Management System
Experience in traditional marketing preferred, including print advertising, direct mail, brochures, marketing collateral, and event marketing
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Adept project management skills with keen ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines
Experience working in a hospitality setting; experience in a non-profit setting a plus
Familiarity with Web site UX a plus
