Full Job Description
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Woodland Hills, CA location. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Receiving Inspection team that interacts with Suppliers, Program Quality Engineers and Manufacturing Operations on products to meet our customer's mission needs. The candidate must have knowledge of the VMDA process as it relates to the Receiving Inspection area for processing material across all product lines.
The candidate must have the ability to read / interpret engineering drawings, Assembly Inspection instructions and must have experience using all types of inspection tools. The candidate must also be knowledgeable of applicable industry standards J-STD-001, IPC-610 and IPC-620 or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years' experience performing inspections in aerospace or military / defense manufacturing with proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Roles and Responsibilities
Support for the Woodland Hills Receiving Inspection VMDA area for supplier non-conforming supplier received material
Evaluates and reports on incoming material, develops and maintains metrics for monthly reporting.
Interfaces with the supplier mission assurance team to ensure identified program issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Works with the team to establish root cause on identified issues and ensures corrective and preventive actions are documented, implemented, and verified effective.
Coordinates efforts to ensure the quality engineering team meets goals and closes actions on time.
Works to ensure effective processes are well documented and updated as needed
Supports the teams Continuous Improvement activities
Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field and five (5)+ years of related work experience in Quality Engineering
Have worked in an ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality Management System Environment
Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (US Citizenship required).
Experience with SAP and MES
Experience with military electronics manufacturing, J Std 001 soldering and IPC 610 experience
Experience with dispositioning of non-conforming material
Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma, Green belt certification
