Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fire Alarm Service Technician to join our growing team at A & A Fire and Security Solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems across various commercial and residential properties. This role requires strong technical expertise in fire alarm systems, the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently, and excellent customer service skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, program, and test fire alarm systems and related components, ensuring full functionality and compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of fire alarm systems to meet local, state, and federal fire safety codes (e.g., NFPA 72).
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with fire alarm panels, devices, and wiring.
- Perform fire alarm system upgrades and expansions as needed, ensuring all systems are up-to-date with the latest technology.
- Document work performed and submit detailed reports of inspections, repairs, and installations.
- Provide clear communication and expert recommendations to clients regarding fire alarm systems and service needs.
- Collaborate with other technicians and departments to ensure efficient job completion and customer satisfaction.
- Stay informed about new fire safety technologies and industry trends to maintain a high level of expertise.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Expertise: Strong mechanical and electrical skills with experience in fire alarm system installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Certification: NICET (or equivalent fire alarm certification) is preferred, or a commitment to obtaining certification.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code (NFPA 72) and National Electric Code (NEC).
- Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex fire alarm issues and provide timely, effective solutions.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in conducting inspections and performing repairs to ensure safety and compliance.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and lift heavy equipment.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to explain technical issues and recommendations to clients.
- Experience: Previous field service experience as a fire alarm technician, with a proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with fire sprinkler systems and security systems is a plus.
- Experience using diagnostic and programming tools for fire alarm systems.
Work Environment:
- You will work in various locations, including commercial buildings, apartments, and offices in the Houston area.
- Participation in an on-call rotation for emergency services may be required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $35.00 per hour
