Job Description:
Analyze manufacturing costs in order to develop standard costs for product lines and monitor actual performance against these standards, report variances to management for decision-making purposes. Ensure accurate valuation of inventory and provide management with inventory reports for review. Assist in the development of controls, procedures, systems, etc. related to cost accounting and inventory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Implement cost standards for materials and labor and maintain these standards in JD Edwards
Review engineering changes to bills of material and determine financial effect of changes
Manage item master
Analyze operating costs for efficiency and improvement
Review and post manufacturing transactions daily, including work order and purchase price variances
Reconcile balance sheet inventory accounts on a daily basis and determine appropriate time to scrap obsolete items
Analyze inventory cost accounts and summarize activity to facilitate financial reporting
Determine amounts for standard monthly journal entries related to inventory and work order variances
Monitor periodic cycle counts, annual physical inventory, and obsolete inventory reserves
Prepare various reports including inventory metrics and product margin reporting
Assist in development of allocation of department costs by product line and establish procedures for direct charges to product line accounts
Assist in analysis of fixed vs variable costs company-wide
Review purchases and receipts of inventory for proper cut-off
Reconcile and manage accrued accounts payable un-invoiced receipts
Input intercompany inventory transfers in JD Edwards and ensure inventory balances are maintained
Perform other accounting related tasks and assist with annual financial statement audit as necessary

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Technical knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting standards
Solid understanding of cost-related manufacturing processes

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
5+ years of cost accounting experience in electronics or high tech manufacturing environment, or equivalent experience

SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision; must be a self-starter
Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves
Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data; must be able to communicate with engineering and manufacturing personnel
Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills
Strong organizational skills; detail oriented
Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products required
JD Edwards or major ERP system experience required
