Plastek Industries, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated individual to fill a position within the Information Technology department at our corporate headquarters in Erie, PA.
The successful candidate should have experience in the support and maintenance of computer equipment all peripherals. A strong knowledge in both hardware and operating systems. The ability to work alone or in teams and transportation between locations within Erie PA is a must.
Aid in the daily support and maintenance of computer equipment, printers, monitors and other peripherals. As needed, build, upgrade, and troubleshoot hardware, operating systems, and applications. Development and maintenance documentation and other support materials using Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred capabilities for the position
Desktop operating system knowledge including; Windows 7, 8, 10 as well as understanding of Linux a plus with the ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot.
Knowledge and usage of basic network protocols, troubleshooting and IP configuration
Experience in and usage of Microsoft Office Suite for end users support and documentation
Understanding Active Directory and network accounts and relationships to effectively support end-users
Experience in building PC’s, cloning HDD and building custom images.
Ability to install various software applications following published documentation.
Experience in installation, troubleshooting and repair of inkjets, lasers, plotters, and multifunction printers
Experience in remote support applications (RDP, VNC, etc.)
Effective problem solving and analytical skills
Good communications skills and technical writing abilities
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work load
Make recommendations on upgrades, repair, and replacement for current and budgetary computer related items
Ability to test and evaluate new technology then making documented analogies
Experience in ordering computer software and hardware plus maintaining stock of standard hardware
Symantec products, Microsoft products, Adobe products, SAP, IBM Client Access, IBM (Lotus) Notes, Autocad, Pro/E (Creo), compression utilities, FTP utilities, Java, Linux
Mental Demands: calculating, comparing, editing, problem-solving, evaluating, interpreting, organizing, consulting, analyzing, planning, designing, documenting, specifying, coordinating, implementing, presenting, work under stressful conditions.
Physical Demands: sitting, standing, climbing stairs, adjusting, connecting, lifting (to 50 lbs.), bending, keyboarding, pulling, pushing, carrying, writing, walking, operating equipment, considerable manual dexterity with tools
Environmental Conditions: inside, working around moving objects, working alone
Travel locally between sites with mileage reimbursement. Possible travel to other Plastek domestic US locations.
Desired certifications and training background
Associates Degree or equivalent technical school.
2+ Years of experience with Windows 7, 8.1 & 10 & Windows Server 2008R2, 2012 & 2016
3+ Years of experience in computer hardware maintenance and configuration.
Certifications: CompTIA A+ and/or MCDST (Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician)
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a fulltime (40 hour per week) salary position with approved overtime for evening and/or weekend work.
The employee must be available during Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST.
The yearly based evaluation will be the extent to which the performance responsibilities of the job are successfully handled and the extent to which yearly action plans and job goals are met. The IT Manager will perform the evaluation. A merit adjusted increase will be assessed after evaluation.
