We are looking for a certified special education teacher for the 2024-25 school year. Your work will help students cultivate interest in education and support them in the entire process of learning and development. Your duties will include providing knowledge and instructions to students while also helping them develop their personalities and skills.
You will be a self-contained special education teacher, teaching live classes via Zoom to small groups of students enrolled at Ignite Learning Academy, a fully accredited online K-12 school. This position will work with our students with the most significant developmental delays who are learning in a fully self-contained environment.

Be available to teach live during the hours of 8AM - 2PM PST (10AM - 5PM EST) As a part-time position, this teacher will determine his/her work hours within this time slot with his/her supervisor

Create goals and learning targets specific to each student and administer assessments to measure progress toward goals

Communicate effectively through verbal and written communication with students, families, colleagues, and other stakeholders

Find excitement in working alongside a great team of special educators rather than working in isolation

Possess a passionate belief that online education is the ideal school option many children in grades K-12 and work to inspire learning and passion within all students

Believe every child learns in unique ways and is capable of success

Have the desire to work 1-on-1 and in small groups with students to ensure instruction is appropriate for their individualized needs

Possess the ability to build rapport with both the student and the parent in a collaborative environment

Have experience teaching in a relevant classroom (self-contained special education classroom for special education candidates, and gifted classroom experience for gifted teacher applicants) (in-person or online);

Conduct lessons in a comprehensive manner and use visual/audio means to facilitate learning

Assist each student individually by promoting interactive learning

Monitor and record students' progress and provide grades and feedback
- Bachelor's degree, master's preferred

State teaching certification relevant to the position for which you are applying

Possess, or be able to obtain, a fingerprint clearance card and/or pass a background check

In-depth knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines

Ability to quickly learn new technological tools (Learning Management Systems, Online Schools, web-conferencing tools, etc.)
